We went to a superhero birthday party recently. What a cute theme and the favors were to.die.for.
The cake is way awesome too. Such a great idea!
The party was at one of those kids jumpy places and it was Emmet’s first experience with such a place. It was really funny to watch him get bounced when the bigger kids would run by. It didn’t seem to bother him but he did prefer to check things out from the non-bouncy areas.
Daddy showed him how to slide down the bouncy wall.
Halfway through I remember to set my custom white balance as the lighting was horrid. I used a napkin! I’m kind of proud of myself, using what I learned in my online photography course in real life. Go me!
I’m taking an online photography class at Clickin Moms. I am really learning how to use my camera to get the shots I want. Sometimes my head spins a bit trying to put all the pieces together but it’s going well. Getting feedback on our assignments has been like a little beacon of light in my child rearing feedbackless world. I get all excited to see how I did and read the critique about 50 times. I forgot how much I like feedback. There are no end of year reviews in parenting. Maybe there should be. I might make up my own. Enough of my type A nonsense. Here’s my handsome hubby looking all moody. I may have woken him up from a nap to be my subject so I could complete an assignment…
We were just being silly and making faces. No, I do not feed my child cheese whiz. But I don’t judge you if you do.
You can check him out on SpearMint Baby!
Here is a cute shot of Daddy and E drawing with sidewalk chalk.
Emmet is going to be Captain America for Halloween. I’ll share his DIY costume soon. What are you and/or your little going to be for Halloween?
This blog is covered with photos of Emmet and a good bit of Emmet and Dylan. There are exactly zero of Emmet and I. Time to fix that. I am setting an intention to get more shots of E & I together. This one is just after bath time and what you can’t see is that my shirt is soaked from splashing and the sharing of a dripping wet wash cloth.
Sometimes Emmet hangs out in the sink while I prep dinner. Today he did something hilarious. I guess he was thirsty?
He got a few sips from the sprayer too.
A friend recently told me that 9 months and 18 months were her favorite ages for her son so far. I’ve been thinking about which ages were my favorite and it’s really hard to pick one. Instead, I will pick a few, in chronological order:
1. The first couple weeks –
Our my hormones were all crazy and just looking at E made us me gush tears of love. Yep, I did that.
2. 2 months – I felt like I sort of had it together but had not gone back to work yet. Oh, how wonderful it was to nap with him everyday and just watch him sleep.
3. 5 months – He was throwing down developmental milestones left and right, one of which was sitting up solidly. This was about when we started spending lots of time in his little pool outside.
4. 8 months – He is soaking up everything around him and it’s so much fun to watch. I also was able to start giving him little pieces of food from my plate in addition to the babyfood I make.
What are your favorite age(s) of your kiddos?
I am learning to say that I am a photographer. I went through a similar phase when I started running. All you have to do is do a thing, and you are a doer of that thing. It doesn’t matter if you’re any good at it. You are still DOING it. Therefore, I am a photographer. I am not trying to start a business, just to be able to take great shots of E. I purchased an entry level DSLR camera a couple of months ago and have slowly been learning how to use it. Early on I refused to use the automatic modes so manual it has been. I am looking forward to watching the progression of my skills on this blog. I recently purchased Canon’s nifty 50 lens and can now get much better shots of Emmet. Now if I could only get him to slow down/stay still for a few seconds. He is always on the move!
Here he is on the move. He is so long, 30.5 inches!
Emmet has been sticking his tongue out a lot lately.
More tongue. Me likey the new lens!
I love this guy!
